How much does the Unit S5 training cost?

You can complete NRSWA’s Unit S5 for as little as £150 pp upfront - or you can choose to spread the cost over 12 or 24 months.

What’s the difference between NRSWA S4 and S5?

The main difference is the materials they focus on. Unit S4 covers the use of non-bituminous materials, while Unit S5 focuses on bituminous materials. Reinstatement work can involve a variety of materials, so it’s common for workers to complete both units.

How long does the Unit S5 accreditation last?

Like all NRSWA accreditations, Unit S5 will last for five years. It will need to be renewed after that.

Do attendees have to complete all of the NRSWA qualifications?

No, you can choose the NRSWA units that are most relevant for your organisation.

That said, it’s common for workers to complete all of the NRSWA supervisor modules, which include:

  • S1: Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding
  • S2: Monitoring excavation in the highway
  • S3: Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
  • S4: Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
  • S7: Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces, concrete footways

How will attendees be assessed?

Unit S5 will be assessed through practical tasks and written theory exams. Attendees need to pass both to get their qualification.

How long does the course take?

This Streetworks course only takes 1 day to complete. Not long at all!

What do attendees need to bring?

Anyone completing the course should bring:

  • A valid form of ID, like a passport or driving licence.
  • PPE for the practical assessments, including high-vis vests or jackets, safety boots, a hard hat, safety gloves, and safety glasses.
